Friends – Want to learn how to make more friends?

Making friends is rewarding, but the process can be intimidating. Friends make your lives better as you can share with them your good times and bad times. However, some people, especially introverts, find it difficult to make friends. To help you overcome this fear, here are a few tips to make more friends easily and quickly.

Fear is in the head

Many people consider meeting new people as a scary event. The first step is having a healthy image of meeting new people. The more you think about the events and the outcomes, the harder it will become for you. Instead, treat meeting people as a regular event.

Start with the people you know

It is not necessary to start with talking to random people moving on the streets. Take small steps and start with the people you know- your colleagues, neighbors, etc. Start showing more interest in group events and invitations to engage with as many people as possible.

Take the Initiative

If you want to make more friends, don’t wait for someone to make a move. Take the initiative and start talking to people. Doing so not only helps you make more friends but helps you become more approachable. Therefore, if you approach other people, other people will approach you as well.

Be Open

Having an open-minded attitude will help you make more friends. The chances are that you expect a person to have a particular type of behavior, but when you talk, you discover a person opposite. In such cases, instead of being judgmental and making an opinion about the person, accept the person with his/her flaws and differences.

Get Involved

If you are talking to a person, it is necessary to get involved. Take an interest in what the person is speaking, listen carefully, and ask questions. Make the person realize that you are interested in them as when you do so; the person develops an interest for you as well.

Be Yourself

Another vital step and most important, is being yourself. Many people start pretending to be someone else. This technique might work initially, but eventually, people will find out your reality and will kick you out of their group.

Make an Effort to Stay Connected

Making friends is easy, but losing them is easier. If you don’t live close to your friends, you should make an effort to stay connected. In most cases, people lose friends because of their ego.
