Rightly said, “Failure is a stepping stone to success.”
Each one of us wants to lead a comfortable life. But, if you get everything served on a silver platter or you are born with a silver spoon, will you ever understand the value of your life?
How do you see failure?
Challenges make you a stronger individual. There are several reasons why you may fail.
- Effort is not out in the right direction.
- Lack of skills to perform a particular activity. I am good at writing but that does not mean I can design good graphics or images.
- Hesitant to seek help/advice. Those who have been there and done that, are the best people who can guide you.
Most of the success stories are an outcome of repeated attempts. For instance, in the field of sports, a player does not become a champion by winning a single match. the recently concluded US Open 2017 is a good example, which crowned Rafael Nadal as the champion. He had to play 6-7 rounds in order to accomplish the feat. The event started with 128 players, each having a unique capability of playing the sport.
Rejection or failure is not a weakness; in fact, it is a sign of bravery because you are trying at least. You have the courage to face the challenges that life throws on you. Obviously, every opportunity comes with its own limitations. Success tastes sweeter when you tackle these hardships and triumph.
Take the example of a student. Starting with kindergarten, you go to the next level each year, and after a period of 12 years, attain the basic level of education. Sometimes you may take longer to understand a concept, which may result in failure. But, that’s fine because you can identify the problem and work on understanding the weak portions, with the help and guidance from your teacher.
Perseverance is the key to success. Keep on trying, since failure helps strengthen your focus and determination.
Reasons why people may fail?
- Peer pressure: Each person has a different level of aptitude and capability to learn. Your friend may be good in academics but might lack creativity skills. you might be creative but may not have an inclination towards bookish knowledge. So, identify your potential and hone your skills.
- Goal-setting: Mostly, an individual is not independent in determining personal goals. Parents decide educational goals; friends determine social goals, and the society decides after-life goals (i.e. how you should be remembered by others after you die). Amidst all this, where do YOU feature? Despite being free, you are not allowed to decide what’s good or bad for you. It is high time when you take a step to change this trend.
- Procrastination: Obviously, if you fail once, you will have to put in extra efforts to build your potential. this effort requires a focused and disciplined approach. Are you ready?
- Negative attitude: When you fail once, it is human nature to feel discouraged. Nobody wants to fail willingly. But, has anybody stopped you from trying once more?
All in all, failure is not something to panic about. Accept your strengths and weaknesses. If you face challenges in identifying these factors, take help from your teacher/mentor/family/friends.

Work towards overcoming your weaknesses through education. Knowledge is the only tool that makes a person mentally strong, wise, and confident. Enroll yourself in a course; identify a mentor who will help you understand your limitations and broaden your horizon.
The world is a sea of endless opportunities; tap on different options and experiment to see what’s right/wrong. Train your mind to think positive, even during bad times, and live your life with your head held high.
ALL THE BEST 🙂
